Detective Dan Jason graduated from South Lake High School (2015) and earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from CSULB (2019).
Joined LAPD on 07/22/2020; completed 12-month patrol at Northwest Division (Hollywood), commended for resolving 2 street fights and aiding a vehicle theft ring bust.
In 09/2021, became a Probationary Detective at Northwest Division (property/misdemeanor violent crimes), winning the LAPD Detective Commendation Medal (11/2022) for cracking a $200k+ interregional burglary ring.
Transferred to Central Division Homicide Unit as Assistant Detective (04/2023), contributing to 15 homicide cases (92% clearance rate) and the 2024 Downtown Convenience Store Serial Robbery Case (LAPD Typical Case). Nominated for the Medal of Valor (08/2024) for hostage rescue clues/arrest support.
Promoted to Detective I (10/2025) by LAPD Detective Review Board; independently handles ordinary violent crimes at Central Division CID and trains new detectives in basic CSI skills.
